While the experts are talking about doubling the economy of farmers by the introduction of integrated farming, all such claims will remain on papers only if the authorities will not intervene on ground to save the farmers from the present debt trap.

In the recent past, many wings of the government including KVK’s and SKUAST of Shalimar have conducted number of programmes asking the farmers to go for integrated farming and not bank on only one farm so that their income can be more.

Apart from providing the skill developing training, these experts have suggested to the farmers that integrated farming was the only method to bring them out of the present mess as most of the farmers are at the brink of closing down their business connected with farming as they have been facing only losses in the past few years.

There is a need to aware farmers about the benefits of integrated farming in the entire Kashmir valley to boost farmer’s income. Recently VC SKUAST instructed on holding awareness camps regarding the multiple farming methods with introduction of hybrid varieties and latest innovations and technologies for the progressive farming under various departmental schemes across the Kashmir valley. VC appreciated KVK Budgam for the hybrid maize production at some areas and directed concerned to adopt villages in each blocks of the district for high value vegetables, better yields and maximum production.

Skill development techniques should be introduced in a big way to the farmers and these techniques should come to their door step and they should not be forced to go to the government offices for such training as such delay only angers them as their days are wasted without any productive end.
