RO Udhampur reviews poll preparedness at Kathua

KATHUA, APRIL 3: Returning Officer (RO) Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Vikas Kundal today reviewed election arrangements put in place across Kathua district.

The RO reviewed the communication and transportation plan formulated for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Election. The plan includes pre-poll, Poll and Post Poll, Monitoring & reporting from polling parties to District Control room and transportation of polling staff and election material.

The Nodal Officers were instructed to facilitate members of armed police force and army personnel serving outside the State to prepare postal ballot papers after following due procedure to facilitate them to cast their votes.

The meeting held a detailed discussion regarding implementation of communication plan, planned dispatch of polling parties and security arrangements for polling staff at far flung areas.

Contingency plan for meeting any eventuality, ballot paper printing and strong room arrangements for EVMs besides Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) for voters were also discussed threadbare. The RO directed the Nodal Officer for Transport Management to prepare separate Transport plan for Persons with Disability(PwDs).

Nodal Officer for SVEEP, Amar Jyoti Raina, informed the meeting that number of activities have been carried out which included election quiz, poll process, awareness on ethical voting to make people aware about the voting procedure and rectify their doubts. The demonstration of EVM and VVPATs was also presented for educating, motivating and facilitating voters, he added.

The meeting was attended by Nodal Officer for MCC, Dr. Shubra Sharma, Nodal Officer for Law & Order, Ghansham Singh, Nodal Officer for Manpower management, Sukhpaul Singh, Nodal Officer for Material Management, Devinder Paul, Nodal Officer for Expenditure Monitoring, Nagesh Jamwal, Nodal Officer for Communication Plan, Sourav Bhandari, Nodal Officer for EVM/VVPAT, Sanjeev Rai, DyDEO, Ashwani Kumar and ASP, Ramnish Gupta.
