Tral shuts to mark third death anniversary of Hizbul commander

SRINAGAR,: A complete shutdown was observed in Tral sub-division of Pulwama district to mark the third death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Abid Khan.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads. Meanwhile, youth pelted stones when some shopkeepers tried to open their shops and also demaged many vehicles, reports said.

Abid Khan, alias Hamza of Handoora hamlet of Tral was killed along with his associate, Sheeraz Ahmed Dar at village Aourigund in a gunfight with government forces on January 27, 2015.

Commanding officer of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Col Munindra Bath Rai, and head constable Sanjeev Singh of SOG were also killed during the gunbattle.
