After remaining missing for a week, Tufail Qadeer Mir (19) showed up on social networking websites, attired in camouflage military fatigues, cradling a rifle, on May 24.

Police on Thursday said that a Srinagar teen, who had appeared in a video on social networking websites, cradling a rifle, has returned his home in Qamarwari area of the Kashmir capital.

After remaining missing for a week, Tufail Qadeer Mir (19) showed up on social networking websites, attired in camouflage military fatigues, cradling a rifle, on May 24.

On Tuesday, Mir – a student of B A 1st year at Degree College Bemina – was reportedly detained by police in a case registered during the protests that followed the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani last July.

However, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) central Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat told journalists at a news conference in Srinagar that “Tufail is with his family at his home”.

Despite repeated questions, he didn’t explain what led to his return to home.
