Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest ahead of proposed protests by the joint resistance leadership on Friday, said a spokesman. He said the Mirwaiz was placed under house detention at his Nigeen residence to prevent him from leading a protest demonstration after Friday prayers in downtown Srinagar.
