ECONOMIC RECOVERY
India’s labour market continued to show resilience and gradual improvement during July–September 2025, as per the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) Quarterly Bulletin released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
The data reflects higher female participation and a dip in unemployment, signaling sustained economic recovery and it is showing visible impact in UT of Jammu and Kashmir also.
Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a lot of unemployment and the dip in unemployment by the recently released data is an encouraging signal for such youth here.
The report further indicated structural shifts, rising self-employment in rural India and modest gains in regular salaried jobs in urban areas. Based on national projections, 56.2 crore people were employed during the quarter, reaffirming India’s ongoing labour market strengthening under the revamped CWS methodology introduced in 2025.
The Worker Population Ratio also registered slight gains, pointing to increased employment opportunities and steady absorption of labour.
However, the fruits of such reforms are yet to be visible in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir as the youth here have limited options especially for self-employment.
