The Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir recently chaired a meeting of the Unique Identification Authority of India Implementation Committee (UIDIC) to review Aadhaar-based initiatives and strengthen the authentication ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting focused on achieving universal Aadhaar coverage, enhancing citizen-centric services, and introducing technological and policy reforms for efficient service delivery.

Emphasizing targeted efforts for full Aadhaar saturation, especially among children aged 0–5 years, the Chief Secretary noted that J&K’s enrolment rate is already surpassing the national average.

He directed the Health and Social Welfare Departments to intensify enrolment drives and the School Education Department to expedite demographic updates and Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) for school children.

Deputy Commissioners and the IT Department were instructed to submit weekly progress reports on DBT scheme notifications, activation of ECMP and CELC kits, and Aadhaar enrolment for young children.

J&K government is for the adoption of QR-code-enabled, verifiable online certificates and the use of Face Authentication Technology for inclusive verification here.
