Political Churn
Recently J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra has expressed deep concern over what he termed the National Conference’s (NC) “backtracking” on its commitments to Congress, suggesting it could signal a rethink of the NC’s position within the INDIA bloc.
He said the NC’s refusal to allocate a safe seat to Congress, despite assurances made at the highest level in Delhi, had raised serious questions about mutual trust and alliance coordination in Jammu and Kashmir.
Congress leadership has claimed that they had been promised one of the first two “safe” seats, but was instead offered an “unsafe” one, forcing the party’s Core Committee to reconsider contesting under such conditions here.
Congress has been maintaining that commitments made to senior Congress leaders must be respected.
Congress has been, highlighting a lack of communication and coordination from the NC. He said the ruling party had failed to consult its alliance partners while deciding on Rajya Sabha candidates.
Coalition functioning requires open dialogue and inclusion, cautioning that the absence of coordination could strain the broader INDIA alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
