Srinagar Freezes at -4.3°C, Larnoo in South Kashmir Coldest at -11.3°C

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley experienced a significant dip in temperatures, with several locations recording sub-zero figures. Srinagar recorded a minimum of -4.3°C, while Qazigund was colder at -7.6°C. Pahalgam registered -10.0°C, and the mercury in Gulmarg dropped to -8.1°C. Kupwara and Kokernag saw minimums of -5.6°C and -5.7°C, respectively. Sonamarg matched Qazigund at -7.6°C, while Anantnag reported -8.0°C. Larnoo recorded the coldest temperature in the valley at -11.3°C. Other notable lows included Shopian at -9.3°C, Kulgam at -7.8°C, Khudwani at -7.3°C, and Pulwama at -6.6°C. Bandipora and Baramulla recorded -4.0°C and -3.8°C, respectively. Temperature data for Zojila and Ganderbal were unavailable.

In contrast to the Kashmir Valley, the Jammu region recorded relatively milder temperatures. Jammu and Banihal shared a minimum of 4.9°C, while Batote recorded 3.0°C. Katra and Ramban registered 6.1°C each, while Kathua was close at 6.0°C. Bhaderwah hit the freezing point at 0.0°C, and Kishtwar recorded 3.9°C. Padder, however, dipped below zero to -5.0°C. Other notable temperatures included Rajouri at 2.8°C, Samba at 2.7°C, Poonch at 5.6°C, Reasi at 3.7°C, and Udhampur at 3.6°C.

The Ladakh region continued to experience extreme cold. Leh recorded a minimum of -13.2°C, and Kargil registered -15.6°C. Drass recorded an icy low of -24.9°C, while Zojila reported a frigid -30.0°C, marking the coldest temperature across the region. (Kashmir Weather)
