Gunfight Breaks Out in North Kashmir’s Nagmarg Forests
An encounter erupted between security forces and militants in the Nagmarg forest area of north Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
Officials informed local news agency KNO that the encounter began when joint security forces launched a search operation in the area.
“As the search party moved towards the suspected location, the terrorists in hiding opened indiscriminate fire, which was met with retaliation, leading to an encounter,” they said.
Intermittent firing was ongoing at the time this report was filed.
Notably, this is the fifth gunfight in north Kashmir, following recent incidents in Bandipora, Kupwara, and Sopore areas.
