Sensitization/ Training programme under Mission Vatsalya held at Court Complex Mominabad
SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 17: A sensitization cum capacity building programme on ‘Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and Mission Vatsalya Scheme’ was today held at the ADR, Centre, District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar.
The event was organized by District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Srinagar, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, Department of Labour, Srinagar and Department of police, Srinagar.
The program was attended by Dr. Mukhtar, District Social Welfare Officer; Jahangir Ahmed Bakshi, Secretary DLSA Srinagar; Dy.SP (Headquarter, Srinagar), Syed Sleet Shah; Assistant Labour Commissioner, Arshid Ahmed; Nuzhat Un Nissa, CWC, Member; Chairman of Kashmir Concern (NGO), Dr Touseef; officials of the District Child Protection Unit Srinagar, Member of JJB, officials of DLSA, Srinagar, Owners/Managers of Placement agencies, officials of NGO’s and paralegal volunteers of the DLSA Srinagar.
The aim of the program was to enhance capacity for effective implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and Child Labour Laws.
The main objective of the programme was to sensitize stakeholders, Placement agencies and representatives of NGOs, on the specific needs and vulnerabilities of children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection.
In his opening remarks, the District Social Welfare Officer highlighted the need to raise awareness about the rights and protection of children, particularly those who are involved in conflict with the law or are in need of care and protection. He stressed upon proper compliance of the Legal framework as provided under various child welfare legislatives.
Secretary DLSA Srinagar emphasized the significance of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring the well-being of children. He urged the participants to work together to create a protective environment for children and to ensure access to justice for those who are in conflict with the law and highlighted the role of legal services institutions.
Dy.SP Headquarter, Srinagar emphasized the critical role of police in combating child trafficking and child labor and highlighted the urgent need to address these heinous crimes. She stressed that the police have a pivotal responsibility in protecting vulnerable children and ensuring their well-being.
Assistant Labour Commissioner outlined the initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing child labour, ensuring access to education and healthcare for all children. He urged the participants to play an active role in promoting compliance with labour laws and protecting children’s rights.
CWC Member highlighted the role and significance of the Child Welfare Committee in safeguarding children’s rights. She emphasized that combating these crimes requires a multi-faceted approach, involving law enforcement, prevention efforts, and community engagement. She urged the participants to remain vigilant and work tirelessly to safeguard children from these exploitative practices.
DCPO Srinagar and DLSA Srinagar expressed their commitment to continuing their collaboration to strengthen child protection systems in the district and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
