New AIMS

There is brisk progress of work on the two AIMS level hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.  Central government has already sanctioned five new medical colleges apart from new nursing colleges also.

After the pandemic in Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has been sending funds for the upgrading of the hospitals, establishment of primary health centres and other medical infrastructure. There has been a lot of progress on the ground about the establishment of medical infrastructure and the government is periodically reviewing progress of the work on such crucial infrastructure.

Recently the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir held a meeting with the secretary health and Chief Engineers of Kashmir and Jammu divisions. He impressed upon them to complete these projects within the timeline prescribed by the government.

The meeting further deliberated upon the status of two AIIMS level Hospitals being established at Vijaypur (Samba) and Awantipora (Pulwama). It was said that the AIIMS, Vijaypur is all set to be dedicated to the public by October this year and AIIMS, Awantipora by 2025 after 34 more acres of land were provided to the institute for its updated design.

It is pertinent to mention here that the medical infrastructure and education has been given a major push during the past couple of years. Besides these 07 Medical Colleges and 2 AIIMS level Institutions, 07 new Nursing Colleges shall also be set up across the UT. Further, the District and Sub-District Hospitals are being given adequate manpower in addition to other infrastructure required for providing quality health care to the public.
