Heavy rains create flood like situation in Jammu low lying areas

Heavy rains lashed Jammu region on Thursday and the wet weather continues to create flood like situation in low lying areas. Right from Sunday rains have been witnessed in Jammu region with temperatures going down and water logging has happened in many localities due to these rains.

According to the residents the rains are unusually heavy as compared to the previous years and people have been cautioned against flash floods in many vulnerable areas of Jammu region.

According to the MeT department, the rains will continue and they have also issued an advisory asking the people of upper reaches in Jammu and Kashmir to be vigilant against flash floods and mudslides.

Due to the heavy rains landslides have already disrupted traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway forcing hundreds of people to get stranded unless the highway is not cleared.

In Jammu the authorities were busy in keeping the traffic moving as in many areas roads were also submerged in the waters due to heavy rains.

In many places of Jammu region schools have been closed especially in the Ramban due to the heavy rains.
