There is a significant dip in temperatures due to intermittent showers being witnessed across Kashmir valley. People of Jammu also got respite from the heat wave as most of the areas were lashed with the rains.

Heavy rains were witnessed in Udhampur and Ramban districts, triggering landslides and closure of Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

There is chill in the atmosphere and people have resorted to woolens in this month of June due to the dip in temperatures.

Wet weather is going to continue in the entire Jammu and Kashmir till June 22 according to the MeT office.

Due to the rainfall the water levels in the river Jehlum have been on rise as the dry weather conditions of the past have left the river as shallow.

Due to the less water levels in river Jhelum many lift irrigation schemes in Pulwama, Awantipora and Tral had become defunct. The latest rains have given a respite to these farmers as the rising water levels in river Jhelum will make these schemes operational.
