DC Srinagar reviews implementation of PMFME scheme in the district

IEC Plan for the scheme finalised

SRINAGAR, JUNE 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired  a meeting here to assess progress on Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Enterprises (PMFME) scheme in the district.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PM-FME scheme) under “One District-One Product”(ODOP) scheme.

The DC said the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, has been launched under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to identify food products for districts keeping in view the existing clusters and availability of raw material.

He said the PMFME is aimed at establishing Micro Food Processing Industries at Micro/Village level through individuals, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Cooperatives and Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs). Under the programme, 35 per cent subsidy/capital support with a ceiling of Rs 10 lakh is being provided to the beneficiaries.

The DC stressed that the schemes have been formulated for promotion of food processing and allied activities and asked the departments to highlight the schemes through various platforms of print, electronic and social media

He directed the officers of line departments to prepare an IEC activity plan so that intensified awareness campaign is launched for upliftment of socio-economic sector to generate employment opportunities for local population.

Chief Planning officer, Srinagar, Lead District Manager, Assistant GM, NABARD, officers of Horticulture, Agriculture, DIC and other Departments were present in the meeting.
