With dry weather conditions, spring season in full bloom

Dry weather conditions have resulted in sprouting of flowers in different gardens of Kashmir. After the Tulip Garden has been thrown open for the tourists and general public, there is a huge rush of people to see the tulips in bloom.

After the receding of covid wave Kashmir is witnessing tourism in a big way as the footfall has increased and only in the month of March so far over 1 lac tourists have visited the valley along with other health resorts like Pahalgam and Gulmarg.

There has been very low tourism in Kashmir valley in the past few years and thousands of families connected with this trade are visibly happy that in the current year they are expecting a lot of tourists.

Locals have also started going to the gardens especially to the Badamveir on the foothills of Hari Parbat Fort and most of the Srinagar families in the evening hours go to this garden to have tea with their family members and enjoy the almond bloom.

Meanwhile, a meteorological department official told GNS that Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recorded a low of 6.6°C against last night’s 8.6°C. The temperature was 1.6°C above normal for Srinagar during this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a low of 4.6°C against 7.1°C on the previous night. The temperature was above normal by 0.9°C for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.2°C against 7.1°C the previous night. It was 1.9°C more than normal during this time of the season, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 0.3°C against 3.3°C last night. The temperature was 0.7°C below normal for the place, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 0.5°C against minus 1.0°C on the previous night, the official said. While minus 1.6°C is normal for the world famous skiing resort during this time of the season, the official said that the temperature was 1.1°C above normal for the place in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 4.6°C against 6.8°C on the previous night. The temperature was 1.4°C more than normal, the official told Global News Service.

Jammu recorded a low of 17.8°C against 18.6°C on the previous night, the official said. The temperature was 2.3°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital during this time of the year, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 7.0°C, Batote had a minimum of 9.8°C while Bhaderwah recorded a low of 7.2°C, the official said.

Ladakh’s Leh recorded a minimum of 0.4°C against 2.0°C previous night while automatic Kargil station recorded a low of minus 1.8°C.

“Weather is most likely to remain mainly dry till March 30th. There is no forecast of any major rain/snow,” the official added.
