Searches going on in Ganderbal after gunfight

Police, army and security forces have extended the search operation to adjoining areas of encounter site in Ganderbal district. The extended search operation was going on till this report was being filed.
Earlier after the intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a Cordon and Search operation was launched by Ganderbal Police accompanied by 24RR and CRPF during intervening night and cordoned the specific house where militants were hiding.
Initially, according to reports, security forces appealed militants to surrender but hiding militants fired upon the security forces, which was retaliated, leading to an encounter. One unidentified militant affiliated with proscribed militant organization Lasker-e- Toiba was killed in wee hours followed by the day long search operation intensified by the security forces to ensure the apprehension of other associates of killed militant in the area.
