Heavy snowfall cuts off Kashmir, Srinagar roads yet to be cleared

There has been complete chaos and confusion on the roads of Srinagar city, as the authorities have not been able to dear these roads of snow. With the result there was not only traffic jams, many vehicles are stranded on the roads due to the slippery conditions. On Wednesday right  from the morning there is a continuous snowfall with the result, the condition of the roads is slippery and many vehicles skidded off the roads resulting in minor mishaps. The government on Tuesday said that they have established a control room in Srinagar as a sign of preparedness to deal with the situation arising in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir after snowfall. Despite control room and helpline numbers, the government machinery was not visible in Srinagar including the main business hub of Lal Chowk. The accumulated snow is creating problems for the vehicles not only in Lal Chowk but also in Polo View market, TRC crossing and also on the Boulevard Road as people are facing difficulties to move out. Till this report is being filed, the condition of Srinagar roads Is very confusing and at many spots now the skidded vehicles are waiting for the traffic authorities to lift their vehicles to the snow accumalated area.
