J&K PhD Scholars Association have protested against the authorities for being neglected not only for the jobs but also even to the payments being given to them while they give their services in the various colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir.

PhD Scholars have been at the receiving end of the situation especially while the jobs are being given as there is very less weightage according to them to their research while the different job giving authorities have been neglecting them.

While speaking to CNS, the participants expressed their disappointment over the lack of comprehensive job policy, delay in advertisement of Academic Arrangement notification for the year 2022, the meagre salary paid to them in violation of equal pay for equal work norm. Lack of full academic session engagement, lack of winter/ summer vacation pay and using the nomenclature of Lecturer instead of Assistant Professor for Academic Arrangement teachers working in various degree colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Due to COVID-19 pandemic and other local reasons, scholars have lost many precious years without getting any Job opportunity. In this regard, they requested the honourable Lieutenant Governor to kindly consider the increase in upper age limit for PSC and SSB posts so that careers of many scholars could be saved who are about to cross the upper age limit in the immediate future”, scholars added.

The participants appealed to the LG to address their issues on humanitarian grounds.
