Crime:Unknown persons loot cash from a fuel station, steal vehicle, unaccounted cash from a shrine

Alleged armed men looted cash from a fuel station while thieves stole a vehicle and looted cash from a shrine in different incidents of crime in Kashmir Valley.

Reports said that a fuel station owner in a complaint filed at a police station claimed that three armed men arrived at their fuel station in Harmain Shopain and looted cash forcibly. They have stated that the cash (1.59 lakh) was snatched from the fuel station after they brandished pistols.

Police in this regard has registered a case and taken up an investigation.

In another incident, burglars looted unaccounted cash from a donation box at the shrine of Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), famously known as ‘Dastgeer Sahib’ here in Khanyar area of Srinagar city.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Police Station Khanyar received information from Intizamiya Committee of the Dastgeer Sahib shrine that during the intervening night some unknown thieves have broken the donation box and stole cash from it. After the commission of the crime, the suspected person escaped from the spot.

This is the second time in recent years that cash has been looted from the said shrine. Earlier in September 2020, burglars had looted cash from the charity box of the shrine.

A police official said that CCTV footage is being checked and culprits will be nabbed shortly.

In another incident of theft, unidentified men stole a Maruti car (JK02-5029) in Kokarnag are of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Reports said that the owner of the car identified as Tariq Ahmed Dar, a resident of Sagam Kokarnag reported at a police station that during the intervening night unknown persons have stolen his Maruti car from Nagam Kokernag.

Police after taking cognizance of the report registered a case. (KNT)
