DC Bandipora reviews COVID-19 containment measures; briefs media about situation

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 19: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the Covid-19 scenario and various mitigation measures in the district.

The meeting discussed threadbare Covid containment measures and stress was laid on the strict implementation of Covid protocol, extensive sampling and mass vaccination.

Soon after the meeting, the DC briefed the media about the situation in the district with regard to the pandemic.

The DC informed that there are 664 Covid positive patients in the district as on date out of which only four are under hospital isolation. He said all the home isolated patients are regularly monitored by the doctors and all SOPs are being followed while dealing with the positive cases.

He said the district witnesses abrupt surge in positive cases though very few required hospital isolation. He said the district is well equipped with healthcare infrastructure as compared to last year.

Giving details, DC said the District Hospital has a capacity of 2000 LPM oxygen plant-double than last year with an additional 300 LPM Oxygen plant at CHC Dawar in Gurez while one oxygen plant will soon be made functional in CHC Hajin.

Dr Owais said SOPs are followed regarding Covid positive cases including contact tracing and isolation of the patient.  They said every patient is attended thrice a week from the control room and vitals are recorded.

He said he had directed the officers for strengthening surveillance, enhanced testing, monitoring of hot spots, and prompt dispatch of samples for genome sequencing and other actions.

With regard to the vaccination drive for children of 15-17 years age-group, DC said so far 30 percent target has been achieved. He said 26639 children of the given age group are to be vaccinated. He lauded the efforts of healthcare workers for working tirelessly to vaccinate every single individual. He said the workers moved to hilly terrains, Snow bound areas and other inaccessible areas amid sub-zero temperature to ensure all the youngsters of given age group are vaccinated.

He urged the people to follow CAB by wearing masks and avoid visiting crowded places. DC also directed for ensuring Covid Appropriate Behavior, strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs, besides ensuring fool-proof containment measures in containment and micro containment zones.

Dr Owais warned of strict action against violation of CAB. The DC appealed to the religious leaders, traders and other prominent citizens to put their efforts and make the common people aware about the Covid-19 SOPs.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora Dr Sheikh Mushtaq, Nodal Officer Mehraj Wani, BMO Bandipora and other senior officers of the district.
