The government of Jammu and Kashmir is reviewing the progress of all the important projects and the officers have been briefing the higher ups in the administration about the pace of projects on the ground.

In this direction recently Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir reviewed Tawi Riverfront Development Project but also enquired about the internet connectivity in rural areas under Bharatnet

He in the review meeting has also said that there should be a timeline set for the creation of Lake in Jammu and has slated its deadline as April 2022.

He also reviewed the progress of different central schemes for public welfare. He stressed on the officers who are implementing these schemes on the ground to work more sincerely and emphasized using net enabled Gram Panchayats for promotion of public welfare schemes.

Recently U&DD informed that under phase I of the Tawi River Front Development Project, the 1st 2.7 km stretch from the Bhagwati Nagar Bridge to the Bikram Chowk Bridge, including the central island and riverfronts on both sides of river Tawi will be developed while the 4.3 km stretch beyond the Bikram Chowk Bridge will be taken up under phase II later.

Stating that the project has the potential to give a major facelift to the Jammu city, the Chief Secretary directed the department to speed up the execution of the project so that artificial pondage in River Tawi is created by April 2022.
