Fresh snowfall close some routes, bring chill and cold

Fresh snowfall on Friday has not only closed some routes like Mughal road and Bandipora-Gurez road but has brought the chill and cold with plains witnessing rainfall.

According to the officials due to the fresh snowfall, traffic authorities decided to close down Mughal road and also Bandipora-Gurez road till further orders.

Fresh snowfall was still going on in the Pir Ki Gali area and its nearby forests forcing the authorities to close Mughal road on Friday.

According to the GNS while reporting about the fresh snowfall and closure of the roads it has said in its news report on Friday as follows.

DTI Mughal Road Qasam Choudhary said  that traffic was halted on the road amid snowfall. He said that the road will be reopened once the snow is cleared.

The historic road was opened for all types of vehicular traffic on July 5 this year. Prior to it, the road was only allowed to be used for ferrying perishable items, mainly fruits.

Meanwhile, Traffic movement in some far-flung areas of Kupwara including Keran, Karna, Macchil, Jumagund, Budnambal and Kumkadi was either restricted or suspended in wake of the snowfall and inclement weather, the officials said.
