DC Kupwara reviews power supply scenario ahead of winter

Asks engineers to adhere to the curtailment schedule strictly

KUPWARA, OCTOBER 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of concerned officers of Power department to review the scenario of power supply ahead of winter season in the district.

Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the officers to streamline and rationalize the power setup in the district to ensure smooth power supply to the people during the winter period. He directed them to notify the curtailment schedule which should be implemented without any deviation.

Earlier, the meeting was informed that due to inclement weather the load on power supply has increased manifold in the district. Accordingly, curtailment schedule has been devised under which 16 hours electricity supply shall be provided to the metered areas and 12 hour supply to non-metered areas.

Reviewing the status of damaged transformers, the DC directed the concerned engineers to pace up repair of the damaged transformers, besides, replacement of damaged poles and conductor should also be done wherever required.

Referring to the chronic defaulters, the DC directed the concerned to strictly deal with the defaulters and publicize their list in local dailies for recovery of the power dues.

The DC also reviewed the status of newly constructed Receiving stations in the district and directed the concerned engineers to electrify them in coming days.

Executive Engineers of different wings of the Power department, Tehsildar Kupwara and other concerned engineers attended the meeting.
