Body of second pilot missing in Aug 3 Ranjit Sagar chopper crash found

After more than two months, the search and rescue teams on Sunday recovered the body of second pilot missing in the Ranjit Sagar Lake after a chopper crashed into the waters on August 3 in Basholi area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.
On August 15, body of one of the pilots was recovered.
“The body of second pilot identified as Captain Jayant Joshi has been recovered from Ranjit Sagar Dam, which was missing since August 3 in chopper crash case,” Ramesh Kotwal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua told UNI here.
The joint rescue and search teams of army, navy, submarine rescue unit and police were already on job to locate the missing pilots after recovering one of the bodies on August 15.
The search team earlier had retrieved the mortal remains of Lt Col AS Baath from a depth of 75.9 metres from the Ranjit Sagar Lake.
The Submarine Rescue Unit of the Indian Navy was engaged on August 13 to trace missing pilots of Indian Helicopter crash into deep water of Ranjit Sagar Dam in Basholi area.
The search operations for Indian Army Pilots and helicopter which had crashed into the Ranjit Sagar Dam was intensified with Submarine Rescue Unit of Indian Navy flown in to explore digitally locate wreckage at depth of approximately 80 to 100 meters.
The Indian Air Force had lifted the heavy equipment from Vishakhapatnam to Pathankot for speeding up the underwater search.
