Water sports
Water sports in the tourism sector has a lot of importance and the J & K government in the recent past has been trying to develop the skills among the youth by developing the required infrastructure so that they can show their metal in the water sports activities.
Recently the Chief Secretary reviewed the water sports activities and directed the Department to complete the equipment audit and commence training of the youth in kayaking and canoeing sports at an earliest.
He issued directions for completion of renovation and restoration works and resumption of all sports activities at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar.
The Department was asked to lay special focus on providing proper training and guidance to the aspiring athletes and players which will allow greater participation of UT’s youth in various national and international events.
The way the J & K administration has been focusing on the sports infrastructure and the events being organized by the government to provide the platforms for the youth to show their talent in the different sports activities is showing a visible impact on the ground.
Many youth have joined the clubs recently formed by the government at the panchayat level to try their luck for the sports activities and at the village level and there is healthy response for such activities to flourish.
