Flashfloods of Rajouri create havoc, one killed another missing

Heavy rains were followed by flashfloods in Rajouri district on Friday afternoon and it created havoc in the areas which were hit by these floods.

Initial reports said that a woman who was washed away along with her daughter in these flashfloods, so far only the body woman was recovered were the daughter is still missing.

These flashfloods have hit the Nowshera area of Rajouri and the people are trying to move to the safer places while exact losses of property etc. are not known yet.

According to GNS, body of a woman washed away in flashfloods alongside her daughter in Rajouri has been recovered at Nowshera area on Friday afternoon, officials said.

Additional SP Rajouri Vivek Shekhar Sharma told GNS that Gulzar Bi (60) wife of Mohammad Akbar was recovered after hours of intense searches along the area. The body of another person Maqsooda Begum (40), who happens to be the daughter of elderly deceased woman, is however still missing and efforts are on to locate her, the official said.

Pertinent to mention here that the mother-daughter duo, as per officials, was washed away in flash floods while working in their fields at Chatyari area of Rajouri district during the intervening night of September 30 and October 1.
