J&K administration is focusing on the vaccination drive so that there is containment of covid-19 infection during the possible third wave. According to the recent media reports most of covid positive cases are being reported from Srinagar city and in many social gatherings along with marriage ceremonies people have violated the covid protocol resulting in the spread of infection.

Recently LG Manoj Sinha held a review meeting with his administration about the containment measures being taken on the ground to prevent the spread of covid-19 infection.

In this recent review meeting he said that studies show the vaccination rate and Covid positivity are inversely proportional to each other.

He was quoting the official data in the review meeting about the vaccination drive and said that 20 lakh vaccination doses to be received by the end of Sept in Jammu and Kashmir.

He asked the administration to scale up vaccination with intensive drives and enforce strict Covid protocol in the areas witnessing an increased number of Covid-19 cases.

He asked the Deputy Commissioners and Health department to effectively utilize the available stock of vaccines to meet the set target. He said that there is no shortage of vaccine, adding that 20 lakh doses of the vaccine would be received by the end of September; the administering needs to be planned accordingly, especially by focusing on the areas with lower rates of vaccination.
