Infiltration Aftermath: Operation in Uri continues for 3rd day amid internet blockade
Amid phone and internet blockage, Army operation against militants continued for 3rd consecutive day near Line of Control in Uri Sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Srinagar based Defense Spokesperson, Colonel Emron Mosavi confirmed that operation continues in Uri to track down infiltrators.
Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that drones have been pressed into service to locate militants in the jungles of Uri. They said sniffer dogs are being also used.
Pertinently, on Sunday troops intercepted a group of militants who sneaked into this part of Kashmir at Angoori post in Uri. However, when challenged militants opened fire ensuing in an encounter in which a soldier was injured.
Later, Army launched a search operation in the area after militants escaped from the area and that operation is still in progress.
Sources added that after the first contact with militants on Sunday no fresh contact has been established.
Meanwhile, mobile calling and internet service remained suspended for the second day in Uri and adjacent areas.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Lt General D P Pandey on Monday said after the infiltration attempt was foiled on Sunday. He had said taht it was not immediately clear whether the militants had escaped back into PaK are still in our side.
He said a massive search operation was going on in the entire woods to make sure there is no militant. (KNT)
