Government to impose strict lockdown in some areas of Srinagar city

While appealing to adhere to the sops in order to avoid the spread of covid-19 infection, the district authorities of Srinagar have said that if the residents of the city continue to violate the sops, the government will go for a strict lockdown in some areas which are prone to the infection.

There has been a sharp increase in the covid positive cases in many areas of the Srinagar city and the government has already made many micro containment zones in those areas where the positivity rate has gone up.

The government has been repeatedly appealing to people to avoid social gathering and marriage ceremonies but unfortunately in the recent past there have been huge gatherings especially on marriages resulting in spread of infection.

According to KNO while reporting about the decision of the government to seriously think about imposing restrictions in some parts of Srinagar city it has said in its news report as following, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Asad Monday said that some areas in Srinagar continue to violate Covid SoPs and the administration will impose strict lockdown in these areas in a few days.

“Some areas are continuously violating Covid SoPs. We can’t make the entire district hostile for violation being done by a few areas. We are planning to impose a strict lockdown in the areas that violate Covid SoPs,” DC Srinagar said.

The DC Srinagar along with SSP Srinagar conducted surprise checks in Srinagar areas and found many malls, business establishments and a few shops violating the Covid SoPs.

“Today, during our surprise check, we found many shops and business establishments violating the Covid SoPs. We have sealed these shops,” the DC Srinagar said.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary said that during the surprise inspection, many shops were found involved in violating the Covid SoPs. “If people won’t follow Sops, we will be forced to take strict action,” he said.
