In order to give boost to the tourist traffic back to Jammu and Kashmir, the administration has recently held many programs and has even conducted some meetings virtually with some states like West Bengal so that the tourism picks up in the autumn season.

Apart from these efforts, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has recently decided to hold a 3-month Tourism Festival under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to begin in the month of October.

There would be a rainbow of events to be held during this festival both in the provinces of Jammu and Kashmir in order to give a boost to the tourist industry.

According to the government the festival will comprise of Sufi, Houseboat, Lake, Winter, and Destination festivals with various art & cultural events at many places so as to bring back tourists here.

Recently the Chief Secretary chaired a meeting to review preparations for the ensuing Tourism Festival in J&K to be organized over a period of three months under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

It was informed that the Tourism Festival will be kick-started by a ‘Rooh-e-Sufi’ festival in October 2021, which will comprise performances on Hafiz Nagma, Kalam-e-Khusro, Kalam-e-Baba Fareed, Qawwali, Baul Sufi folk, Dervish Sufi dance, and Haziri Kathak, besides literary seminar on Sufism and exhibition of local arts, calligraphy, and Sufi traditions.
