Srinagar city has not only Dal Lake which is regarded as the soul of the city but also has dozens of springs and water bodies which need the attention of the government.

Recently DDC Srinagar did an on spot inspection to oversee restoration works being conducted in Srinagar district especially around the Vicharnag near Soura as there is a cluster of springs also underneath near local Masjid in Nowshera area in the ancient times it was called as Mukhta Pukher, meaning cluster of springs.

The government has decided to clean these springs along with Vicharnag which has also a spring in the upper part and DDC Srinagar has inspected the work being done for the restoration.

He said that the government has already made a comprehensive plan formulated for development, rejuvenation of Water Bodies, springs.

In order to review the pace of the ongoing rejuvenation and restoration works of historical Water Bodies in Srinagar, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, recently visited Vicharnag, Gilsar, Khushal Sar and other water springs to take stock of ongoing restoration works.

He inspected the restoration works undertaken for cleaning of these water bodies to revive their decades-old glory.

It was informed that a comprehensive plan with regard to proper management of sewerage and cleaning in and around all prestigious water bodies, remodeling and redesigning of bridges and over all face lifting around the surroundings has been formulated.
