COVID-19: J&K records two deaths, 176 positive cases

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Union territory on Thursday witnessed two deaths and 176 fresh positive cases, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 1,307.

With two more death, the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,395 and 176 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 323,061.

Of the exact number of 323,061 cases, 200,662 are from Kashmir division and 122,399 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 176 new cases, 80 belong to Kashmir division while as 96 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 200,662 including 197,682 recoveries and 2,239 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 122,399 including 119,677 recoveries and 2,156 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,307 including 741 from Kashmir division and 566 from Jammu division.

With 164 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 317,359 which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 21 from Srinagar, 07 from Baramulla, 10 from Budgam, 04 from Pulwama, 01 from Kupwara, 15 from Anantnag, 10 from Bandipora, 10 from Ganderbal, 02 from Kulgam and 00 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 96 from Jammu division include 05 from Jammu, 02 from Udhampur, 03 from Rajouri, 05 from Doda, 04 from Kathua, 01 from Samba, 02 from Kishtwar, 01 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 73 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities on Thursday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and tally stands at 38.

Out of two deaths reported today, one died at GMC Jammu and other at SMVDNH Katra.

As per officials figures, 71,738 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,604 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,743 including 282 deaths and 23,377 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,996 including 22,713 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,244 including 15,006 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,138 including 165 deaths and 13,929 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,361 including 16,122 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,541 cases including 9,390 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,999 including 9,850 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,314 including 11,165 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,588 including 5,526 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,882 including 51,613 recoveries and 1,141 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,357 including 11,167 recoveries and 137 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,009 including 10,713 recoveries and 228 deaths are from Rajouri, 7,379 including 7,143 recoveries and 128 deaths are from Doda, 9,272 including 9,113 recoveries and 151 deaths are from Kathua, 7,128 including 7,002 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 4,697 including 4,604 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,286 including 6,160 recoveries and 97 deaths are from Poonch, 5,980 including 5,895 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ramban and 6,409 including 6,267 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 3,015,929 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 7,209 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,307 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,621,614 persons have completed the surveillance period and 381,414 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 12,419,709 samples are available. Out of 12,419,709 the number of samples tested negative stands at 12,096,648 while as 323,061 have tested positive, among them 1,307 persons are active, 317,359 persons have recovered and 4,395 persons have died—(KNO)
