While giving a face lift to the Srinagar city government of Jammu and Kashmir has fast tracked many projects especially the beautification of banks of river Jhelum so that it becomes the main attraction for the tourists.

During a recent meeting of LG Manoj Sinha impressed upon the engineers that they should ensure while executing different projects on river Jhelum that the ecology is not ignored.

He was informed by the officers that a 2 km stretch from Zero Bridge to Amira Kadal to be developed by September in the first phase.

He visited the iconic Zero Bridge and took on-spot assessment of development and beautification of Jhelum River on the lines of Sabarmati Riverfront.

Jhelum River reflects the culture and history of the valley. It is important to ensure scientific execution of work keeping in view the aesthetic value of the river, besides taking the ecology factor into consideration; he asked the different wings of the administration.

Once completed, the project will open up new avenues for the tourism sector, thus making Srinagar city more vibrant is the goal of JK administration for such projects here.

During his visit, he enquired about the mechanism being laid down for the development of upcoming attractions and facilities to be made available to the visitors.
