Friday prayers held at Jamia Masjid Srinagar without Mirwaiz

After four months Friday prayers were allowed in the Jamia Masjid of Srinagar on Friday however Mirwaiz Umer Farooq was not allowed to come for the prayers.

Already the administration had given a green signal to the management of the Jamia Masjid of Srinagar that they should prepare to hold the Friday prayers and the people came for the prayers from around the city after four months.

The prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar were suspended by the administration in view of the second wave of covid-19 four months ago and now as a cases has started receding, the authorities allowed the prayers.

According to the KNS in its report on the holding of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar, prayers concluded peacefully at the Jamia Masjid as there was no untoward incident anywhere in the area.

Meanwhile, the people appealed to the authorities to release Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq from house detention and allow him to offer Friday sermons at the Jamia Masjid.
