Stresses for vaccination, CAB to halt resurgence in infections

ANANTNAG, JULY 09: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today said that the Covid-19 situation has improved significantly with recovery rate showing upward trend and positivity rate witnessing sharp decline in the district.

He said that the vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) are vital to keep the virus at bay and halt any resurgence in infections especially during the unlock phase.

The DC made these remarks while briefing on COVID-19 scenario and the measures taken to mitigate its effects in the district.

Urging people to get vaccinated forthwith, Dr. Singla said the efficacy of covid vaccine has been established beyond doubt and it has become paramount to preempt another wave of the pandemic.

Giving details, the DC informed that the recovery rate went further up to above 98 percent while the positivity rate remained below 0.5 percent during the last seven (07) days.

Speaking on the vaccination programme, the DC said more than 3.38 lac doses have been administered to various categories of beneficiaries so far adding efforts are being intensified to achieve cent percent inoculation of target population in coming weeks.

Under supervision of senior officers, door to door vaccination drives are being carried out to inoculate the remaining target population of the district, he added.

Dr. Singla also informed that concrete and proactive measures viz certain restrictions on visitors and enforcement of CAB were taken by the administration in Pahalgam to prevent a surge in Covid cases.

Regarding testing, he said both RAT and RT-PCR sampling have been ramped up further and cumulatively near about 4000 tests are being done every day.

 Hailing the dedication of stakeholders for bringing the situation under control, the DC impressed upon them to continue their efforts with commitment to knock down the pandemic effectively.
