PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has by her boycott made the position of all those political parties in Kashmir a little bit awkward as they met the delimitation commission.

Both Congress and National Conference after their meeting with the commission have told the media that though they do not recognize the validity of the commission, they have met the members and have talked tough with them regarding all the changes done so far post abrogation of article 370.

The National Conference got opposition from within when former minister and spokesman Agha Ruhullah praised Mehbooba Mufti and PDP from staying away from the delimitation commission.

He said that it was the right decision by PDP to stay away from this exercise and take a clear stand. But his boycott has forced the National Conference and Congress to talk tough in the media about their meeting and their conversations with the commission.

Both the NC and Congress said that they have asked the Delimitation Commission why Jammu and Kashmir had been singled out for the exercise when delimitation of the constituencies had ceased up to 2016 in the country. They further said that they have told the commission that there is mistrust of the institutions in J&K and they should act in a fair and transparent manner. The CPI (M) also used the same language with the Commission, asking it to act in a fair manner.
