Overall Positivity rate declines to below 1 % : DC Gbl

GANDERBAL, JULY 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today said that the overall positivity has witnessed a massive decline in the district and at present the positivity rate is just 0.79 percent.

This was stated by the officer at a routine press briefing regarding present situation of the Covid-19 cases in the district.

While sharing comparative figures, she said that this week about 13000 tests stand done and overall positivity rate has come down to 0.79 % which was 1.5 % in last week. She said that last week 7000 tests were conducted at Covid Care Centres and only 11 persons were tested positive who were sent to home isolation and all of them are stable.

Regarding active positive cases, the DC said that currently 176 cases are active in the district while 41 containment zones are still notified in the district and 59 % active case are from these zones, she added.

She said that positive indicators with regard to pandemic are improving every passing day which is an encouraging trend for all and to further improve our positive indicators, she again appealed people of the district to continue following Covid appropriate behavior besides wear face masks, avoid unnecessary gathering in markets and other public places.

While elaborating on the ongoing vaccination drive for 18-44 years of age group, she complimented the medical teams associated with vaccination for carrying educative and positive campaign in last few days for clearing doubts among masses regarding the vaccine.

She appealed to the people to visit nearest Vaccination Centre and get vaccinated in the shortest possible time which is the only defensive mechanism against the deadly Corona virus.
