Two SMC ward officers suspended for negligence

Two Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) ward officers were suspended for facilitating illegal construction in their wards in Srinagar city.
Reports poured about the illegal constructions being coming up in Magarmal Bagh, Lawaypora and Mujhgund areas, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation suspended Ward Officer Lawaypora and Magarmal and attached both these officers with the Sanitation Officer of SMC.
Srinagar Municipal Corporation demolished several illegal structures that had come up near Lawaypora along the National Highway as well as in the adjacent Mujgund area of Srinagar.
Meanwhile KNT while quoting SMC officials said, “These two ward officers were suspended for negligence and dereliction of duties,” said an official adding that illegal structures in various areas were demolished without any delay.
“The commissioner SMC has made it clear that illegal construction would not be allowed at any cost.”
