Good beginning
Most of the leaders who participated in the recently held all party meeting for the future of Kashmir have been unanimous in praising the Prime Minister for a good beginning.
Even the leaders like Omar Abdullah who has been very vocal for the restoration of article 370, has described the meeting as a “beginning”. “It is a first step, and it will be a long road to rebuilding trust and confidence”, Omar Abdullah was quoted by one of the New Delhi based newspapers saying after the meeting.
The Prime Minister himself talked about Assembly elections, expediting the delimitation exercise, restoring the elected government to J&K and statehood.
The Prime Minister Modi even conveyed to the mainstream parties of Jammu and Kashmir that this meeting was long overdue and he was very keen to meet them earlier but due to the two covid-19 waves the meeting could not materialize.
The Prime Minister said that he was very keen to see Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development and peace with an elected government at the helm.
His efforts to bring early elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been hailed by all the former chief ministers and they said it will take some time to rebuild trust between New Delhi and Srinagar.
