Jammu on high alert after explosions at airport, 1 injured
An alert has been sounded across Jammu division after a person was injured following explosions inside Jammu airport’s technical area early on Sunday, Additional Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh, said.
Police have also arrested two people from near the area. Sources said the injured was hit by a splinter.
Sources said the explosions, which took place at around 1.42 am, were so powerful that it was heard till a distance of around 1 km from the site.
They added that soon after the explosion, police dispatched a bomb disposal squad and a team of forensic experts to the technical area.
Meanwhile, defence PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand said that there has been no injury to any personnel or damage to any equipment. Investigation is on and further details are awaited.
Suspected militant held with IED
A suspected militant was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police from near a shopping mall in the jurisdiction of Trikuta Nagar Police station. An IED was seized from him.
Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh said that the IED weighed nearly 5 kilograms.
Sources said that an over-ground worker was also apprehended along with the militant.
