Prime Minister Modi has invited most of the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the way forward and for holding of the elections according to the latest media reports.

This is PM Modi’s first major outreach to end the political impasse over ending Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in 2019, along with a severe clampdown and the arrest of mainstream political leader’s including former lawmakers.

People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) in the recent past has held two meetings after months of silence. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti was among those who participated in the second meeting of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) to discuss the Centre’s invitation for the all-party meeting with the Prime Minister.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah who is heading the alliance said that they will participate in the scheduled meeting with the Prime Minister and said that their stand on Jammu and Kashmir is known to everyone and they will put forth their point of view before the Prime Minister in New Delhi with open heart.

Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has also decided to attend the meeting and People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has indicated that they will demand restoration of article 370 along with statehood before the Prime Minister.
