There have been all party meetings in Jammu and Kashmir earlier also but the fresh invitation from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to different political parties of Jammu and Kashmir has its own importance in the backdrop of abrogation of article 370.

This meeting which is slated to be held on June 24 at New Delhi has among the invitees Ghulam Nabi Azad, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and many other Former Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

There is a lot of media buzz that statehood would be restored along with some guarantees for the jobs and land in Jammu and Kashmir, but there is no official agenda out from the central government about the meeting to be held regarding Jammu and Kashmir.

Many political parties believe that unlike the previous all-party meetings held during the UPA regime, this one will be different. There are a lot of activities going on in the political circles of Jammu and Kashmir with many Jammu politicians blaming the central government for Kashmir appeasement.

The NC and the PDP are likely to face pressure from within to press for the restoration of statehood of J&K or for article 370 as a pre-condition for the talks. So, the parties’ leadership will have to pacify its members before taking part in the talks. However, it is indicated that all the mainstream political parties, despite all the pain of the past, will move forward and put their point of view before the central government.
