There is lot of talk at least in the media circles about the talks between New Delhi and mainstream political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir. These talks according to the media reports coming from New Delhi would be held soon as the informal discussions have already been conducted if these media reports are to be believed.

The central government, BJP and Jammu and Kashmir administration have maintained silence over such reports on the news channels and also in the newspapers.

These reports said that mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir want early Assembly elections and also return of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as promised on the floor of the House by the BJP government when they reduced the erstwhile state into two Union Territories on 5 August 2019.

In this connection, Farooq Abdullah recently met Mehbooba Mufti at her residence apparently to hold a People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) meeting after a gap of more than six months as most of the leadership of this platform remained silent for a long time.

If the talks begin, it would be a real exercise for the positive results as the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir have shown inclination to negotiate the path for a better future.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah in a recent media briefing said that they have never closed the doors for the negotiations and showed all willingness for any kind of dialogue offered by the centre to the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir.
