Strict curfew enforced on Friday in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir

Srinagar

Strict curfew is being enforced on Friday by authorities for the second running day in connection with Eid-ul-Fitr in order to avoid further spread of covid-19.

Srinagar and Jammu cities are battling with covid even as the authorities are trying to keep people indoors by allowing only people connected with essential services to move on the streets.

On Friday Jamia Masjid Srinagar Hazratbal shrine and other big Masjids were locked as the police did not allow any Friday prayers in such places.

Police and security forces were seen chasing away people with the by lanes with sticks in order to avoid any gathering on Friday.

There has been no visible movement of people and vehicles on the streets of Srinagar and similar reports are pouring in from other parts of Kashmir also.

Due to the surge in covid-19 not only the fatalities have increased but also the number of covid positive cases. According to the recent data over 53 thousand people have been infected in this second wave and the most affected areas are Srinagar and Jammu cities.
