Covid 2nd wave: In Kashmir, 170 localities declared micro-containment zones

In order to prevent the COVID-19 cases from spreading, over 170 localities and areas Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones have been declared across Kashmir.

According to the data collected by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) a total of 173 areas have been notified as the Micro Containment and Containments zones in the ten districts of Kashmir region.

Most of the Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones are in Srinagar with officials informing that 13 areas in the summer capital have been notified as Containment Zones while 47 have been declared as Micro Containment Zones.

The data gathered by KNO revealed that a total of 28 areas have been declared Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district while in Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam have three, four and eight areas respectively have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones.

Besides, the central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Budgam district, a total of 33 areas and localities have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones. The official data revealed that 17 areas in Budgam have been declared as MCZ and CZs while in Ganderbal eight areas each have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones.

In northern districts, a total of 39 districts have been declared as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones with data collected revealing that 12 areas have been declared as MCZs and CZs in Kupwara district while seven and 20 areas have been notified as Micro Containment Zones and Containment Zones in Bandipora and Baramulla district respectively.
