Director Agriculture Kashmir inaugurates training program on Mushroom Cultivation

SRINAGAR, APRIL 24: The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated a daylong training program on Mushroom cultivation at Lalmandi, here.

The program was organised by Farmers Training and Education Centre (FTEC) Ganderbal.

Addressing the gathering, the Director said that under Mission Youth the department is making efforts to generate a skilled human resource specialized in various agriculture activities. He said that they are working on a strategy to attract more and more educated youth towards the agriculture sector so that they could contribute to the success story of the sector in a more effective manner.

He asked the participants of the training program to work in close coordination with the farmers in a way where there is no gap between the farmer and the department.

While speaking on mushroom cultivation, the Director said that Kashmir has been bestowed with best climatic conditions for cultivation of such crops and over the period of time the department has been able to produce six cycles of mushroom crop in one year.

Chowdhary said that efforts are on to introduce new varieties of high commercial importance in mushroom and other crops so that the socio economic conditions of the farming community could be improved in a desirable manner.

Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom, Joint Director Inputs/PHM and Marketing, Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Deputy Director FTEC Ganderbal, Training Officer and other senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.

Later Director Kick Started the distribution drive of vegetable seedlings at kitchen garden premises of Lalmandi.
