Cop Succumbs to injuries after a militant attack at Nowgam

A local BJP leader at Aribagh in Nowgam was attacked by the suspected militants on Thursday at his residence and during the attack the policeman who was guarding the leader got injured.

According to the reports a suspected militant was wearing the Burqa and knocked the main door of BJP leaders home and other militants opened indiscriminate fire.

Police have told news agencies that the injured cop succumbed to his injuries in hospital. This attack has come after a recent sneak attack on the CRPF at Lawaypora in which three CRPF jawans were killed.

In that attack, police said that they not only seized the vehicle but also arrested some over ground workers who were the part of the attack.

Meanwhile GNS news agency in its report on the Nowgam attack has said that a policeman, injured in the militant attack at the residence of a BJP leader in Aribagh in Nowgam area of Srinagar succumbed to his injuries.

The militants also decamped with a rifle of the policeman who was posted on guard duties at the BJP leader Anwar Khan.

The BJP leader was not at his residence, when the militants carried out the attack, a police officer told GNS.

 

“In the attack, a policeman, Ramiz Raja, was injured and he was shifted to SMHS hospital. However he succumbed to the injuries,” the police officer said. The officer also confirmed that militants fled with the rifle of the injured cop.

Police, he said, have registered a case and started investigations.
