Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Kupwara

Security forces achieved a major break-through when they busted a militant hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in the border town of Karnah in the frontier district of Kupwara, a police spokesman said on Moday.
He said on a specific information Army and police conducted a joint search operation in Dhani area of Taad area in Karnah.
After a long search security forces unearthed a militant hideout, he said adding large cache of arms and ammunition, including five AK 47 rifles with six magazines an seven pistols and nine magazines were recovered.
A case FIR No 19/2021 u/s 7/25 IA Act has been registered in Police Station Karnah and investigation has been taken up.
Spokesman said some suspected persons have been taken into custody for questioning.
Meanwhile,  timely recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition has thwarted any possible untoward incident in otherwise peaceful region and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to try derailing peace and harmony.
A defence ministry spokesman Lt Col Emron Musavi said in a major success to security forces deployed in Karnah, a huge recovery was made in the late hours of Sunday owing to high state of alertness of the Army and Police.
He said on the night of March 28 in a specific intelligence based joint operation by Indian Army and JKP, five AK Rifles and Seven Pistols with a host of magazines and ammunition were recovered.
The operation was conducted in very close proximity of the Line of Control (LoC) in Dhanni village which is under direct observation of Pak Army posts in Lipa Valley.
He said such operations conducted by the security agencies along the LoC inspite of Pakistani domination is re-assuring and makes us feel safe”, said the locals on being asked to comment about the operation. Security agencies and civil administration in Karnah Tehsil continue to work hand in hand to negate the security threat to the people in the Union Territory of J&K.
Spokesman said in the last two years, a total of 16 weapons and over 50 KG of narcotics has been recovered from Karnah.
