Tussle with bureaucracy
The JK administration is in fresh tussle with the DDC members who are demanding more powers and also security to perform their duties as promised to them before the elections to the DDC councils.
Many of the mainstream political leaders and former ministers have blamed the JK administration for the “disappointment and humiliation” of the DDC members.
The mainstream political leaders have expressed their apprehensions about the growing powers of bureaucracy in Jammu and Kashmir and have described them as new stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir. Former minister and BJP ally Sajad Gani Lone recently in a tweet said, “DDC protocol powers disappointment-humiliation. Problem is the new stakeholder created by the union government post August 5- BUREAUCRAT Ever powerful. He/she will never facilitate democracy. will c anybody elected by people as a threat. This is a simple analysis. And no rocket science”.
DDC members have shown by their protests that they are not happy with the protocol and the perks given to them by Jammu and Kashmir administration and have appealed to Lt. Governor to address their problems.
According to the media reports, LG Sinha has responded to their appeals and likely there would be a meeting to get a middle path of the problem.
